Yorkville United Methodist Church is known for cooking 100 pork chops at a time on racks over a specially-built cooker and for an array of delicious desserts. The Fall Pork Chop Dinner will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 3:30 – 7:00 pm. The menu includes flame-grilled pork chops, baked potato with butter or sour cream, buttered corn, Cole slaw, chunky applesauce, carrots and pickles, roll and butter, lemonade and coffee, and homemade pies, tortes and fancy cakes.
There are several Dine-In Options: a 2-chop dinner for $15 or a 1-chop dinner for $13. A Drive-Through Carryout Dinner is available for your convenience. The cost is $15 for a 2-chop dinner or $13 for a 1-chop dinner which will be delivered to your car by car hops. A 4-chop package of already-cooked pork chops is available for $15 (by advance sales only).
Advance tickets are strongly recommended. There may be a limited number of tickets available at the door, but please call the church office at (262) 878-2388 so you are not disappointed. Please leave your name and phone number, so someone can call you back to confirm your order. You must arrive by 6 p.m. in order to guarantee that the tickets will still be held for you. You may also reserve tickets on the website at www.yumc.org.
The church is located at 17645 Old Yorkville Road (on 63rd Drive, just north of Highway 20.) The church is completely accessible by elevator.
K.I.C.K. (Kids in Christ’s Kingdom) choir practice is held every Sunday before Sunday School at 8:45 am
Sunday School classes are offered for everyone 2 years through adult.
The NHLP (former New Hope Larger Parish) Church League bowls at Old Settler’s Bowling Center in Union Grove every other Sunday afternoon from September 7 through March 29 (except we skip December 28 this year). This handicapped league has eight 4-person teams. There are family teams and the ages range from 12 years to the 70’s and 80’s. If you would like to volunteer to be a pacer (substitute), please contact Michael Knight, President, at 262-878-1577.
A Craft group meets every Monday in the fellowship hall. They welcome anyone interested in working on their craft projects while enjoying fellowship with other crafters.
Choir rehearsal for all parts (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) is held in the sanctuary from 6:30 – 7:30 pm on Monday evenings. On the Sundays that the choir sings during the 10:15 am worship service, choir members meet in the chapel at 9:45 am for rehearsal.
